Fenton Township Meeting on Road Assessment District June 7, 2010
There is a proposal before the Fenton Township board to include residents of Lake Farms Ct, that do not border Pinewood Trail, in the Pinewood Trail Road assessment District.
All residents of Pinewood Trail and Lake Farms Court were mailed out voting forms covering 4 different issues to give them an opportunity to express their wishes to the Township. The votes were tallied and the results were presented to the Fenton Township Board on June 7, 2010.
Road Maintenance Issues Voting Results
A total of 28 parcels were mailed voting forms with return envelopes and
encouraged to vote on the 4 issues, with 20 of the 28 responding (71.4%).
The results of the vote on each of the four issues, along with the
actual voting ballots signed by the parcel owners were given to the
township for their records.
To summarize the voting results:
- The Pinewood Trail Road assessment district will be expanded to include Lake Farms Court and all parcels in the revised district will pay the same annual maintenance assessment. Both roads (Pinewood Trail and Lake Farms Court) will be maintained from the one assessment fund known as the Pinewood Trail Road Assessment District.
- All residents in the Pinewood Trail Road assessment district will
receive prior notification of any proposed maintenance (excluding
snow removal) and an affirmative vote of at least 51% of the residents
will be required before the township approves the use and release
of any money from the road assessment fund.
- The residents of Lake Farms Ct. that do not border Pinewood Trail, having not contributed to the Pinewood Trail assessment fund to date, will contribute a total of $600 toward the $1200 comprise settlement of the previously incurred road maintenance debt and the $600 balance would be paid from the Pinewood Trail Road Maintenance Fund.
- The annual road maintenance assessment should be increased from $75 to $100 annually to build up the fund in anticipation of future repairs.
We were pleased to have received such a good response from the residents and to offer procedures for future road maintenance issues to the Charter Township of Fenton for adoption and implementation.
The matter of expanding the Pinewood Trail Assessment District will be voted on at the Fenton Township Meeting on June 21, 2010.
